Please take the time to answer this survey. It will help us to provide the Yosemite Chapter with updated By-Laws that will benefit us now and in the future. Thanks for your help.
Officers-Board Members 1. Should a person representing a specific city or county jurisdiction as the Building Official, who is employed through a contract (either from another jurisdiction or private firm), be able to serve as an officer in the Yosemite Chapter?
2. Should other management employees (supervising inspector, supervising plan checker, etc.) representing a specific city or county jurisdiction, who are employed through a contract (either from another jurisdiction or private firm), be able to serve as an officer in the Yosemite Chapter?
3. Should there be limitations as to how many officer positions can be filled by contract employees?
3a. How many Officer positions should be allowed to be contract employees?
4. Should there be a limit of no more than one officer or board member per company to prevent the perception of control by any individual industry members?
Who should be able to vote?
5. To include as many people as possible in the day-to-day decisions of the Yosemite Chapter, would you be in favor of extending voting rights to all members in good standing on floor items that come up in regular meetings, except the following: By-laws, election of officers and determination of annual budget or major budget changes?
6a Should jurisdictions receive voting rights based on population? For example, if we use 50,000 as a basis and if Stanislaus County has 275,000 people in the unincorporated area, they could pay for 5 memberships and have 5 votes.
6b. Should population based voting as outlined in 6a be used without additional paid memberships.
6c. If we use this system, would the designated members have to be at a meeting to vote,
6d. or could another person cast their votes by “proxy”?
7. Should each jurisdiction receive only one vote?
8. Industry Voting - Do you foresee any problems with private companies in multiple jurisdictions having voting rights for each of those jurisdictions?
Member Benefits
Should members get some benefits for the membership fees they pay other than the satisfaction that they are helping to promote the Yosemite Chapter to offer continuing education at a lower price at convenient locations?
9a Should we charge a modestly higher price at the monthly meetings to those who are not members to encourage more participation?
9b Do you think it would lower attendance if we, for instance, charged $25 for non-members and $20 for members?
10. When we offer free seminars, should we offer those as free for paid members only and charge a small fee of $25 to non-members?
11. When we offer regular seminars, should charge a higher fee to non- members?
